Wow. I’ve never had a massage quite like Marvin’s. I came in with some deep tension, built up over years of carrying babies and toddlers, working out, and working at a desk. He explained the difference between deep pressure and deep tissue and asked me which I wanted—deep tissue I said, and he got to work.

At first I was a little baffled by the technique because I’ve never experienced true myofacial release before but one day later, I’m a convert. My whole body is more limber and more fluid than it’s been in years. Not going to lie though—there were times when I wanted to laugh because it was a little ticklish and cry because it was so painful. Think the toughest parts of a foam rolling routine but for an entire session.

A few times I asked for modifications and he quickly obliged. So I totally know that I could’ve avoided any pain altogether but it was the type of hurt where you just know is doing the body good. And as I type this, I’m grateful I stuck through it.

Highly highly recommend Marvin if youre looking to fine tune your body and create more openness so you can show up better in the rest of life.

If you're searching for a results-driven, boutique experience (no Massage Envy vibes here), look no further. I've worked with Brian and Marvin, who have very different techniques but are both incredible at what they do.

Brian excels at targeting problem areas and utilizes a more traditional deep tissue technique, but incorporates range-of-motion and even some stretching in his practice. I always leave my appointments with Brian feeling refreshed.

I see Marvin for deep tissue massages with myofacial release and all I can say is WOW. I'd never experienced a true myofacial release massage, so my first session with Marvin was uncomfortable at best but, if I'm being honest, it was straight up painful for a large portion of the appointment. I had to take slow, deep breaths as Marvin broke up my myofacial tissues by kneading my skin between his fingers. I asked him for a lighter touch a couple of times and he did a great job adjusting to my needs. Marvin mentioned that I would be sore for a few days following my massage and I did experience muscle soreness, almost like I'd finished a tough workout the day prior. Just like Marvin predicted, the first session was by far the toughest and my subsequent sessions have been easy and almost meditative. His technique is unlike any massage therapist I've ever worked with and I've gained mobility in my neck and shoulders thanks to his skills. I went to Contact High for the third time last weekend. Each of the three visits that I have had at the massage studio have been more than satisfactory to say the least. Brian has been my therapist every time and I wanted to write a review specifically regarding his understanding of my needs and the quality of the services that he has provided me. The first time I went I was carrying much of my stress and tension in my neck and shoulders. Brian sat down with me and talked about what we wanted to focus on and he listened attentively as I told him about my chronic pain. The next time I went, my pain had travelled to my lower back, most likely due to a horseback riding fall. Once again, Brian talked with me before the massage to get a better idea of what areas we wanted to focus on and any concerns that I had. Finally, my last session (last weekend) was another massage that was focused on my lower back. This massage came after I had been through months of physical therapy, which was also very helpful for my lower back pain. The thing that most impressed me about Brian was that although I asked to focus on my lower back again this time, he managed to switch up the routine massage and actually help me do some stretches to increase mobility. I hardly ever post reviews online, but Marvin deserves this. I chose Marvin despite a couple negative reviews because I was in pain and he was available. Marvin's technique includes myofascial release therapy which is ALWAYS performed without oil or lotion. It is designed to unstick fascia which is the connective tissue layer between skin and muscles and it cannot be accessed with oil or cream on the skin. This is a deeply therapeutic clinical massage, not a spa relax massage and Marvin describes it as such on his website. Can people read? Did it hurt a little? Yes, it did. It always does (for those of us who have received this therapy before.) Did I feel better the next day? Yes, by leaps and bounds. Marvin also makes this therapy very affordable and accessible. Which is a good thing because for those of us who are all stuck-up, we need more than one treatment in a short period of time to see real results. I did not mind giving Marvin a generous tip because I recognize that he is pricing himself well below what is typically charged for this therapy. Contact High Massage is a very professional and affordable massage therapy clinic. I work with the head massage therapist, Marvin Chambers, because of his signature skill of clinical deep tissue massage. After four years of college hockey and two hip surgeries, Marvin's work allows me to remain active as I deal with the scar tissue remaining in my hips and the muscle tightness surrounding my hips. Deep tissue massage isn't for everyone, but I promise you it is absolutely necessary for anyone dealing with chronic issues.
